Woven in Jalalpur Jattan since 1992.
MK Shawls is a family-run manufacturer of wool, angora and pashmina shawls. Two brothers started with hand looms. Today we run three plants and supply customers and wholesalers across Pakistan and abroad.

Two brothers, one loom, and a town that knows shawls
Jalalpur Jattan in Gujrat was making shawls and blankets long before 1947. In 1992 we began our own work there, with little machinery and very few resources.
We are Shehbaz Ahmad and Haji Nawaz. We learned this trade in the town where we grew up, and we still run the business ourselves. You can walk into our factory and outlet and meet the people who make your shawl.
We grew by solving the problems our customers had, one machine at a time.
How we grew
Step by step, one machine at a time
1992
Hand looms and the charkha
Weaving was slow and labour-intensive. Thread spun on the charkha came out uneven, thick in places and thin in others.
Next
Power looms
We introduced power looms to raise output and keep our cloth more consistent.
Then
German computerized spinning
We replaced hand spinning with imported German machinery. It gives us an even thread, which improves the feel and strength of every shawl.
Local first
Our own dyeing and pressing unit
Shawl dyeing was then only available in Lahore. We set up a unit in Jalalpur Jattan so customers could dye and press locally, saving time and money. Other local businesses followed.
Today
Three plants, one standard
We make men’s shawls in more than 15 categories, handmade women’s shawls and wool suits, and supply bulk orders to wholesalers.
