Our story

“We learned this trade in the town where we grew up, and we still run the business ourselves. You can walk into our factory and meet the people who make your shawl.”

Shehbaz Ahmad and Haji Nawaz, founders

From fibre to finish

Every stage happens under our own roof in Jalalpur Jattan, so we can stand behind every shawl we sell.

Raw wool and spinning tools

Spinning

German computerized spinning machines give us an even thread, for a softer feel and a stronger shawl.

Weaving

Our power looms weave wool, angora and pashmina with a consistency hand looms could not reach.

Dyeing and pressing

Our own dyeing and pressing unit, the first in Jalalpur Jattan, colours and finishes every piece.

Quality control

Each shawl is checked by hand before it leaves the mill, so what reaches you is right first time.

Worn well, season after season

A good shawl is the last thing you put on and the first thing people notice. Ours are cut generously, so they drape over a shalwar kameez, a waistcoat or a winter coat.

Care and questions

Fine wool lasts for decades when it is looked after. Here is how we care for our own shawls, and answers to what customers ask us most.

Dry clean only. Between wears, air it out flat rather than washing it, and remove marks gently with a soft brush.

Fold it loosely and keep it in a breathable cotton bag, away from direct sunlight. Avoid plastic, which traps moisture. A cedar block helps keep moths away.

Hang the shawl in a steamy bathroom, or use a steamer held a few centimetres away. Do not press a hot iron directly onto fine wool.
